The magic of flying should be shared with everyone!
We finished Project SOAR with two fantastic days at Stansted Airport Aerozone. Over 165 schools across the UK took part in the project and we were able to invite two primary schools to join us at the aiport to celebrate. All our thanks to Joanne Davies and the staff at London Stansted Airport Aerozone for hosting the two days and the volunteer pilots Marnie Munns, Sarah Smartt, Emma Sherborn, Emma Gauntlett and Nick Munns from easyJet and Marion Woolbridge from the British Women Pilots' Association for their support on Thursday 9th June. And also to Rebecca Walker and Captain Bryan Pill from MAF Youth Jane Priston, the Founder of Amy Johnson Herne Bay Project, Julie Westhorp from the British Women Pilots' Association for their unwavering support and excellent presentations on Friday 10th June. Not to mention countless other individuals and organisations who have supported the project over he past 5 months.
And thanks to the children and staff at Silver End Primary from Essex and All Saint's Primary from Hertfordshire for joining us for the two days. You were a fantastic group to work with and a credit to your schools. And we hope there are some future aviators amongst you!
Whilst we had great fun learning about aviation one of the most important things the children took away with them was the message that perseverance is the key to success and that nothing is impossible. This was certainly how Amy is remembered. She believed that she could do anything - and she certainly did!
Dear Kanchana,
I just wanted to thank you so much for such an inspiring and beneficial day. Today was by far the most informative, well-resourced and organised trip that I have taken children on. Your passion for aviation really shone through and helped to carry the day.
The children were genuinely motivated and enthused, in a way that I had not seen them actively engaged in their learning before. The journey that I have been trying to take the school on this year is one that threads learning into everything that the children do and this day certainly underpinned that message.
If you would ever like any help in the future, I am more than happy to help, so please keep me informed about any projects.
Thank you once again,
Victoria Gooding
