Why I fly...

Memona, who is learning to fly at Flight Training London, Elstree shares with us why she is learning to fly. We wish you all the best with your adventure!

There is no one reason why I am learning to fly; it is the whole embodiment of aviation that has always fascinated me. I am lucky that I have been able to learn to fly at this stage of my life, knowing that I still have so much to explore and discover.
I knew it would be daunting stepping out of my comfort zone, testing all my physical and mental skills and capabilities, and that makes it the all the more scarily good.
Having joined BT as an apprentice aged 18, I have always been interested in the way things work, and how technology and engineering has created so much possibility and innovation in the world. I believe it’s important for females to pursue their interests and encourage others to do the same.
Now 23, working towards my PPL, with Flight Training London has taught me a lot about principles of flight and shown me I can achieve more than I thought I could, whilst meeting some amazing people.
I have always had the deepest respect and admiration for pilots; their commitment and passion towards flying, humble yet strong. It was this desire to follow in their footsteps that I am learning to fly.
